1 Corinthians 4:2 Scholarship
Stan & Sandi Giles
The 1 Corinthians 4:2 Scholarship was a deep-seated desire of Stan Giles. It was established to encourage and support DTS students that were not necessarily straight A students but demonstrated passion, faithfulness, and a strong drive to reach others for Christ in spite of the day-to-day struggles and challenges that can be so discouraging.
That desire was born out of his own belief that he was an average student in seminary, and yet God still led, used, and blessed him through over 30 years of faithful and fruitful ministry. Stan served both as a pastor of two churches as well as a chaplain in the Army National Guard. He also, to the very end, had a great passion for young ministers who were shouldering struggles, burdens, busy schedules, and active family lives, yet remained faithful to their calling.
Before going home in June 2015, Stan and his wife, Sandi, established The 1 Corinthians 4:2 Scholarship. Sandi says, “It has been such a tremendous blessing to watch five different young men and their families, so far, step into ministry with a solid knowledge that their faithfulness has been noticed, cherished, and cheered on. My continued prayer is that many lives will be touched by these precious men and their families on into the future as God uses all the skill sets that they were able to take with them into their ministries from DTS; but most of all, their faithfulness in sharing the grace and mercy they have received from our Heavenly Father.”
